Welcome to the SURPRISE Project!

Running from 01 January 2020 to 30 June 2023, SURPRISE partners cooperated to improve the performance of Earth Observation (EO) from satellites.

EO helps us to understand the planet and to address socio-environmental challenges. It has immediate impact on our daily life. An easy example are weather forecasts, which are developed based on data collected by geo-stationary satellites.

With more spatially detailed and frequent measurements from satellites, more and better Earth Observation applications can emerge.

SURPRISE had a consortium of experts researching how to improve the performance of the satellites in gathering data, by using innovative technologies. We integrated Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) into all our work.

To find out more about our project, have a look at our SUMMARY page. For final results and more details on the SURPRISE R&I work, you can visit the Scientific Outputs page. Then, you can get to know our Team on our Consortium and Advisory Board pages.

If you are new to all this, see our Glossary to find out what all the terminology means and check out our News for updates about the project and about Earth Observation.
